8 Bh Bake Sale Reflection

For our today's kete, we are about to bake something for somebody's who need help. All of us have different roles, others didn't bake but make some posters, others bake, and the others help cutting and plasticing. At first, we brainstorm our ideas and prepare for the sale. We bake different treats like fudge, lolly cake, cookies, cucpcakes, and banana cake. We started planning at Thursday, this day is the planning day. Then the next day is the baking day, my other classmates bake at school and the others are baking at their home. Monday, this is the day that we are plasticing the food that we bake. Tuesday, this is the day that we are selling our treats, we have some items that cost 50 cents and $1 for an item, $2 for small, $3 for medium and $4 for the large. We sold our treats for the total cost of $153.70. We are doing this project for fundraise, 24/7 workers, and families that needs help. We hope that we can help these people as soon as possible.

Writing - How Does Your Heart Work?

How Does Your Heart Work?

What is a Heart? Your heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood to your body. The human heart is an
organ that pumps blood throughout the body via the circulatory system, supplying oxygen and nutrients to
the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes. Your heart is at the centre of your circulatory
system.

The heart has four chambers: right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, left ventricle. Your right atrium and
right ventricle receives blood that’s low in oxygen from  your whole body and sends it to your lungs
through the Pulmonary Artery. The lungs fill blood with oxygen that your left atrium receives then flows
through the left ventricle through the Aortic Artery.

Your veins carry blood to the heart and your arteries carry blood away from the heart. Your rib cage protect
your heart from danger and your heart is about the size of your fist and it doesn’t take  a rest.

It can beat more than 100,000 times in one day pumping about 2000 gallons of blood through your body.
There is about 60,000 miles of vessels in your circulatory system and it always keep them full. It have four
valves that open and close that control the blood through your heart. The Bicuspid, Pulmonary, Mitral and
Aortic valves.

Our heart is a important organ to our body. There’s a lot of interesting information's that you will know
about your heart. Take care of your heart if you want a long and beautiful life.

Something I need to improve:

- I think I need to make my writing into a year 9 quality work because as time passes, I will be a year 9
soon.

What I learned from this assignment:

- I learn from my assignment is that your heart helps your whole body to work, you can't live without
heary

Something I did well:

- Year 8 quality work.

Comment from my partner:

- It is very good explanation writing. You can tell people how to look after your heart. Well done!!!

All About Matariki

What Is a Matariki?

Matariki is the constellation of stars known in many parts of the world which appears in the sky in late May or June. It is also known as the seven stars/sister. It rises in mid-winter and for many Maori, it heralds the start of a new year.

Matariki travels the night skies during the year until the cold months when it disappears from the night sky for about 28 days. When it reappears, it is a signal that the Māori New Year has begun. Some tribal areas say puaka. Rigel is the star that brings the New Year as it always rises before Matariki. In the South Islands we celebrate both. Puaka is the first star to appear of the New Year. When the old people saw Puaka rise on the horizon, they would know in three days Matariki would rise. They would prepare to welcome the New Year, while remembering those that had gone before them.

During the coldest time each year, the Matariki star cluster comes rising up for the first time in the eastern sky. This always happens in the early morning just before the sun's get out of bed. This keep a look out for this happening because it marks in the beginning of an important time of year, the Maori New Year.
