English Creative Writing Story

                                                                  Unexpected Wealth

Once upon a time, there was an ordinary man who lives in an ordinary house. The name of the man is Kata. He doesn’t have any special work, nor salary, he is just a writer. His books are not that famous, but his income is enough for him and his wife to live. Then one day, Kata’s boss fired him because no one is interested in his books anymore and some of his works are not being published. One week after, Kata doesn’t have a job anymore, he is trying to find some jobs but no one is accepting him, and he said to himself, “ If I’m only rich, I would start my own company and raise it properly, but now that I don’t have any job, how can I pay my taxes? My rent? My car rental? My rent is a little expensive, and my car it's a little costly, and I guess if I can’t find a job next week, I have to move to another house that is cheaper than my house today.”

Second week after losing his job, Kata still can't find a job for him, and he has to move house or else he won’t have enough money to pay his rent. “And now, I have to leave this house and move to another, I don’t have any money anymore, my taxes are getting bigger and bigger,” Kata said in his desperate voice, and Kata started to packed his things and cleaning the house before he leaves. But before Kata packed his things, her wife broke up with him and said, “Sorry Kata, I don’t want to break up with you, I love you so much, but my parents won’t stop telling me that you are not worthy enough for me since we got married. Sorry Kata, I hope you’ll miss me, bye.” Kata is so stress, he doesn't know what to do, everything is getting worse, but he has to accept it.

Until one day while Kata is cleaning his garage, he is still sad for losing his job and his wife. While cleaning his garage, he saw a long and sticky spider web and started cleaning it. He is following the long web until he gets into the back corner of the garage. He saw a shoe box, and he picked it up and move it outside the garage, but the shoe box is heavier than it should be. Kata is so suspicious to what might be inside it, he thought it was just a normal shoe box with some nails and hammer inside, so he rejected it. Kata keep cleaning his garage until it gets dark, and he saw the shoe box again and want to throw it into the bin, but the box is just really heavy so he decided to open it. “Why is this so heavy? It only has some nails and hammer in it, but how would I know if I wouldn't open it.”, and Kata continuously opened the box. When he opened the box, he can’t speak and say anything, he started to cry. His emotions are getting mixed. The box has a money in it, a very big amount of money, it has $40000 in it and there is a note inside it, its from his wife. “Kata, I left this box for you, since I know things are not that good, so I decided to put this in the garage because I know that you are moving house, I hope this $40000 will make things better, from your wife, Kate.” Kata cried so hard, he suddenly moved to get his phone and called his ex-wife and said, “Kate I can’t leave without you and this money is so big, I cannot accept it. I’m not worthy enough to have this huge amount of money, all I want is you not the money.”

Two weeks later, Kata found a new job for temporary and he used the money to make a company of his own. Things are getting better for him, and he and his wife are back together also. Kate and Kata lived happily ever after. One year after, Kata move house into a more expensive one with his wife, he is one of the richest men in the city, thanks to the shoe box, everything changes into a better one.

Acid Rain

What is Acid Rain?
- When fossil fuel is such as coal, oil and natural gas are burned oxides of carbon, sulfur and nitrogen escape into the air. These molecules dissolve in the water in the clouds and make the water more acidic than normal. When this happen it is called 'acid rain'.

How to make Acid Rain:

Equipment: 3 drops of universal indicator, 3 drops of bromothynol blue, baby flower petal, calcium carbonate, apple, weigh boat

Method:

1. You need a petri dish, prepare your equipment and make them moist by adding water into them.

2. Put your equipment carefully to the petri dish and do not let them touch each other.

3. Put your weigh boat in the middle.

4. Lastly, put some acid on the weigh boat and quickly close the lid.

5. Wait for your experiment.

Observations:

According to my observations,  the universal indicator changed first, it was green before and it turn into red when the acid was put on the weigh boat. The bromothynol blue was blue before and it turned to blue to green, it has the same process as the universal indicator. The calcium carbonate didn't really change at all but it is a little bit crusty, but the baby flower petal was pink before and it started losing it colour. Lastly, the apple is harder than before as time goes by. Each equipment changed because of the acid rain.

Explanation:

The equipment change and react to the effects of the acid rain because of the acid that's been attached to them.

New Zealand Conservation Week

                                                      New Zealand Conservation Week

New Zealand Conservation Week usually happens every year. Conservation Week is an annual event in students or schools, it is about taking care of our nature, and some workshops also and activities is given to students. This year, this event was held on September 14 - 22, 2019 and this is the 50th anniversary of Conservation Week. This event help teachers to motivate students to be in charge for the environment.

Conservation Week is an important event in New Zealand because it helps people and the environment to be responsible for each other. People helps the environment by keeping it clean, and the environment will give us something that we can use like giving us fresh air, healthy living or anything that a clean environment do.

Young New Zealanders can help to conserve our plants by keeping it clean. Keeping surroundings clean will be good for everyone else. It helps people to breathe properly, no contaminated places, and everything is clean if we keep our surroundings clean.

They can also help by recycling things like plastics, cans or bottles to decrease some rubbish in New Zealand. If a person can't recycle things, we can put it in the recycling bin (yellow bin) and throw recyclable things and the government will take care of this things.

We can also help by planting trees. Plants helps reduce carbon dioxide, reduce levels of polluted air, keeping the air clean or anything else that plants do. People have benefits by plants because we humans need these things, without plants, people will suffer due to their breathing.

The Digestive Process

The 5 Main Parts of the Digestive System

Oesophagus

Oesophagus (food pipe or gullet) is one of the main parts of the digestive system. It is one of the upper parts of the digestive system. Oesophagus is connected to the mouth to your stomach. When you ate something, the food goes through your food pipe to stomach. Adults food pipe are about 25 centimetres long or 9 - 10 inches.

Stomach

The oesophagus leads to the stomach. The stomach is an elastic bag which can hold up to 2 - 4 litres. When carbohydrates are at the stomach, they're starting to turn into simple sugars by the enzyme amylase. Other nutrients remain undigested. The benefits of having a stomach that it's able to expand because a large amount of food is able to be consumed before competitors arrive. Protein turns into amino acids as the breakdown o0of nutrients happens in the stomach. Contractions of the muscles in the wall of stomach aid is being digested by assisting with mechanical digestion by mixing the food with gastric juices thereby by speeding up digestion.

Small Intestine

The small intestine lies between the stomach and the large intestine. It is the small intestine where absorption of nutrients takes place. The small intestine has three distinct regions – the duodenumjejunum, and ileum. The duodenum, the shortest, is where preparation for absorption through small finger-like protrusions called villi begins. The jejunum is specialised for the absorption through its lining by enterocytes. Small nutrient particles which have been previously digested by enzymes in the duodenum. The main function of the ileum is to absorb vitaminbile salts, and whatever products of digestion were not absorbed by the jejunum.

Large Intestine

The large intestine, also known as the large bowel, is the last part of the gastrointestinal tract and of the digestive system in vertebratesWater is absorbed here and the remaining waste material is stored as feces before being removed by defecationIn humans, the large intestine begins in the right iliac region of the pelvis, just at or below the waist, where it is joined to the end of the small intestine at the cecum, via the ileocecal valve. It then continues as the colon ascending the abdomen, across the width of the abdominal cavity as the transverse colon, and then descending to the rectum and its endpoint at the anal canal.[8] Overall, in humans, the large intestine is about 1.5 metres (5 ft) long, which is about one-fifth of the whole length of the gastrointestinal tract.

Liver

The liver is an organ only found in vertebrates which remove toxic various metabolitessynthesizes proteins and produces biochemicals necessary for digestionIn humans, it is located in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, below the diaphragm. Its other roles in metabolism include the regulation of glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells and the production of hormones. The liver is an accessory digestive organ that produces bile, an alkaline compound which helps the breakdown of fat. Bile aids in digestion via the emulsification of lipids.

Testing for Protein - The Biuret Test

Testing for Protein  -  the Biuret Test

Aim:  To test is a sample of food contains protein.

Equipment:  test tube, sodium hydroxide (NaOH), copper sulfate (CuSO4), food sample (milk).

Method:

1. Place about 2 mL of the sample into a test tube and add 5 drops of sodium hydroxide.

2. Add 5 drops of copper sulfate.

3. Shake the test tube gently from side to side.

Results:  If the solution remains blue, then no protein is present. If the solution changes to a purple colour then protein is present in the sample.

Discussion:  The Biuret test is based on the ability of Cu (II) ions to form a  violet-coloured protein after you heat the food.

Simple and Complex Sugar Experimnt

Testing for Simple Sugars - the Benedict's Test

Aim:  To test a sample of food to determine whether it contains simple sugars.

Equipment:  Bunsen burner, test tube tongs, Benedict's Solution, a sample of food.

Method:

1. Place about 2 mL of the sample into a test tube and then add 5 drops of Benedict's Solution.

2. Heat with a Bunsen burner until it changes colour.

Results:  A positive test for a simple sugar results in the Benedict's Solution changing from a blue colour to a red/orange colour.

Discussion: The Benedict's Solution changes it colours depend on how much sugar in it.

Testing for Complex Sugars - the Iodine Test

Aim: To test if a sample food contains complex sugars.

Equipment: Test tube, food sample, iodine solution

Method:

1. Place about 2 ml of the sample in a test tube.

2. Add 3-5 drops of iodine and mix.

Results: If complex sugars (i.e. starch) are present the iodine solution will change to brown colour to a blue/black colour

Discussion: Even though the bread and the iodine are both carbohydrates, iodine will not change its colour when it react to sugar. It's because the starch is made up of many, many sugar molecules chained together. Only the long chains found in starch are able to interact with the iodine.
