Children of Blood and Bone - Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Chaos.

Before this moment, I never truly understood the word. Chaos meant Mother’s screams before a luncheon. It meant the scramble of oloyes to their gold-lined chairs.

Now chaos surrounds me, pulsing through every breath and heartbeat. It sings as blood splatters through the air, snickers with delight as boats explode into oblivion.

A message I take from this scene is that a person experience can change the way they look in things, like Amari, she don't understand what chaos means until she had an experience.

Wind Racers

 1. Post a photo of your racer

2. Calculate the speed of your racer (race distance = 9m). Show your work.

V= 9 divided by 16.19 = 0.54 ms-1

3. Why did you choose your design? How could you have changed the design to make your racer go faster? - because we copied a ship called "thousand sunny". We can make our racer go faster by making the sail smaller.

Science Egg Drop Experiment

 1. Aim-What are you trying to do? - we're trying to keep the egg full and safe when you drop it.

2. Method-How did you build your lander? Why did you choose that design and use those particular materials? - First, we place our wrapper on the table and then put the cotton inside it. After, we put the egg and wrap it inside. We also created a building like construction made of sticks and foams. (We forgot to take a picture of our egg construction :( )

3. Results-Did your egg break? - No it's safe :).  Picture after we drop it

4. Calculate the weight using F=ma

a. Egg only (egg mass=82.49g)

b.Egg and lander ( use mass that you measured in class) = 824.9 N

Chapter 22 - Children of Blood and Bone

CHAPTER 22

I pause for a moment, aghast at the number of them filling the narrow path.

Before today, I caught only glimpses of the laborers brought in to staff the

palace—always pleasant, clean, groomed to Mother’s satisfaction. Like Binta, I

thought they lived simple lives, safe within the palace walls. I never considered

where they came from, where else they might have ended up,

“Skies…” It’s almost too hard to bear the sight. Mostly diviners, the laborers

outnumber the villagers by hordes, dressed in nothing but tattered rags. Their

dark skin blisters under the scorching sun, marred by the dirt and sand

seemingly burned into their beings. Each is hardly more than a walking

skeleton.

A message I take from this scene is that reality is harsher than what you expect and you might see some things that you taught they are in a good condition but they are not.

Chapter 13 - Children of Blood and Bone

 Chapter 13 - Zélie

I turn back toward Amari and try to let it go. But in her eyes, I see her

brother’s. I feel his hands choking me.

“I want to trust her—”

“No, you don’t.”

“Well, even if I did, I can’t. Her father ordered the Raid. Her brother burned

down our village. What makes you think she’s any different?”

A message I take from this scene is that when someone is nice but still remembers the bad things from them.

Chapter 9 - Children of Blood and Bone

Chapter 9 – Zélie
“Mama, are you okay?”
Tears come to her eyes, spilling into the wrinkles of her dark skin. “It’s been so
long,” she whispers. “I never thought I would feel the warmth of magic again”
“I feel,” she chokes through her silent sobs. “I feel like I can breathe again.”

This can be compared when someone finally saw something they love or miss because they haven't seen it for a long time.
